I am a grateful recovering alcoholic, as well as a grateful recovering survivor of a couple of dysfunctional family systems. I have been on every side of this disease, beginning as the daughter of an alcoholic, the wife of an alcoholic (big surprise), my own alcoholism, and the mother of an alcoholic. Yes, this is indeed a disastrous family disease that destroys wonderful, loving people in the process.
When you are the adult child of an alcoholic or the product of being raised by one, you can't quite put your finger on what's wrong. All you know is you feel ill, inappropriate; like a misfit.
As we age, our ego has never learned to trust this place we call home, and so--ego grows.
Hi all i am new here i am and quite confused i am about the sponser and the 12 steps of Na i was wondering if someone could help me i attended two meetings so far last week i have but i didn't hear anything about sponser or anything i never done the 12 step before can someone help me please thank you
I was given the gift of abstinence. I say a "gift" because it came about because I was scared. I thought I was dying; literally. I thought I had serious liver damage. I mean, I drank for 30 years. So I stopped. But it turned out to be diverticulitis. Still serious, but not life threatening.
I can't figure out how to use this tool. Where are the worksheets? Where are the posts? ughhh...lol...I will keep trying. I can't even find a help link!
