Frequent Newcomer's question
Newcomer's Question: I am an atheist and the word "God" turns me off. I heard that Alcoholics Anonymous forces the concept of God on people. Is this true? Can I keep my faithless beliefs while seeking recovery in AA?

I would say to this person
I would say to this person "go and read chapter 4 from the big book, we agnostics. I've seen many people in recovery over the years. Some of them don't believe in God and some have found God. For some this program may strengthen their existing beliefs and some may leave their old beliefs behaind for new ones. You got to choose what you want. This is a spiritual program and not a religious program. Some will use the word "God" and some will use "Jesus" and you got to choose what to use and what not to use. Just give yourself a favor and go to meetings. You life is waiting for you."
